Carmel Cottage Inn - Reservation Policies And Terms of Occupancy

Thank you for choosing to stay with us at the Carmel Cottage Inn. We are proud of our cottages and the unique experience they provide to our guests. We appreciate your cooperation and strive to keep our guests, staff, and property as safe as possible.
By making a reservation and occupying a cottage, you acknowledge that you have read, understand, and agree to comply with all policies and terms set forth below.

Property Disclosures:
Mid-stay housekeeping is not available. Air conditioning is not available. On-site laundry services are not available.
A complimentary gift bag is provided and may contain nuts and gluten. Guests with allergies assume all related risk.

Check-out time is strictly 11:00 a.m.

Purpose of Policies:
These policies are intended to protect guests, staff, and property and to preserve the quiet residential character of the inn while ensuring a pleasant stay for all guests.

Minimum Stay Requirement:
A minimum stay of two (2) consecutive nights in the same cottage is required. Longer minimum stays may apply for holidays, special events, or peak demand periods.

Reservations and Deposits:
All bookings must be confirmed by Carmel Cottage Inn and are not final without confirmation. A deposit equal to fifty percent (50%) of the total reservation charge is required to secure a reservation. Reservations made within fifteen (15) days of arrival
require full payment at the time of booking. Reservations are non-transferable and may not be assigned, transferred, or sublet without express written consent.

Payment Authorization:
Full payment is due fifteen (15) days prior to arrival. By providing a credit card, guests authorize Carmel Cottage Inn to charge all amounts due under this agreement, including lodging charges, taxes, fees, damages, excessive cleaning costs, and any
other amounts permitted by law.

Additional Log Haven Charge:
For stays in Log Haven, an additional charge of $100 per person per night applies for occupancy exceeding eight (8) persons. Maximum occupancy for Log Haven is ten (10) persons regardless of age.

Taxes:
Applicable taxes include a ten percent (10%) room tax, a nightly city fee of $1.50 per night ($1.70 starting July
1, 2025), and a two percent (2%) assessment fee. Taxes are subject to change and will be collected in accordance with applicable law.

Check-In / Check-Out:
Check-in is available after 4:00 p.m. Check-out must occur no later than 11:00 a.m. Late check-outs may result in additional charges.F

Cancellations:
Standard reservations must be canceled or modified at least fifteen (15) days prior to arrival. Reservations associated with major local events including, but not limited to, Concourse, Elegance, AT&T, Pebble Beach, Pro-Am, and the U.S. Open must be canceled at least thirty (30) days prior to arrival. No refunds or changes are permitted after these deadlines.

Unforeseen / Force Majeure Events:

Carmel Cottage Inn shall not be liable for events beyond its control, including acts of God, governmental actions, fire, strikes, terrorism, severe weather, flooding, utility interruptions, or nearby construction. No refunds, rebates, or date changes will be offered under such circumstances.

Travel Insurance:
Travel insurance is not provided. Guests are strongly encouraged to obtain coverage independently. Failure to do so does not waive enforcement of the cancellation policy.

Age Restrictions:
Guests must be eighteen (18) years or older to check in without a parent or legal guardian.

Children:
Children are welcome provided maximum occupancy is not exceeded. Recreational items may not be used on inn property. Guardians are responsible for children's conduct and safety at all times. Children under twelve (12) years of age may not be left unattended anywhere on the property. AddFitional person fees may apply.

Maximum Occupancy:
Log Haven: 10 guests (additional charge over 8).
Tradewinds: 6 guests.
Moon Gate: 4 guests.
Home Port: 4 guests.
Sky Way: 2 guests.

Exceeding occupancy limits constitutes a material breach and may result in immediate termination without refund.

Use of Property:
Cottages are for residential lodging purposes only and must comply with all applicable laws, ordinances, and these policies.

In-Cottage Amenities And Fireplaces:
Amenities and appliances must be used only for their intended purpose. Fireplaces are gas inserts and may not be serviced or repaired by guests. Please report any issues immediately.

Housekeeping:
Daily or mid-stay housekeeping services are not provided.

Personal Property:
Carmel Cottage Inn is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged personal property. Items left behind may be returned at the guest's expense.

Security Cameras:
For the safety of our guests and property exterior security cameras are in use in outdoor areas including entrances and parking lot. There are no cameras inside the cottages or patios.

No Event Policy:
Events of any kind are strictly prohibited without prior written authorization. Unless otherwise authorized by us in writing in advance, no weddings, receptions, or any other events are to be held by you at the cottages or on the grounds during your stay. Holding an event without receiving our written approval in advance is a breach of the terms of your occupancy and cause for immediate termination. Unauthorized events constitute a material breach and may result in immediate termination and forfeiture of all monies paid.

Liability:

Guests waive and release Carmel Cottage Inn, its owners, and agents from liability for injuries, accidents, or loss of personal property arising from or related to the stay, to the fullest extent permitted by law. Guests are responsible for safeguarding their valuables.

Noise:
Please be respectful of guests in surrounding cottages. Guests must comply with City of Carmel-by-the-Sea noise ordinances.

Pets:
All pets are prohibited on property.

Smoking and Vaping:
Smoking, vaping and burning candles are prohibited inside cottages and in all common areas on the property.

Access by Management:
Management reserves the right to access cottages for inspection, maintenance, or repair as reasonably necessary. No refunds or reductions will be made for mechanical failures, utility interruptions, maintenance issues, or nearby construction.

Damages to Property:
Guests are financially responsible for any damage to the cottage, furnishings, fixtures, appliances, landscaping, or common areas caused by themselves or members of their party occurring during their stay. Carmel Cottage Inn may charge the credit card on file
for the cost of repair, replacement, cleaning, administrative expenses, and loss of use. Failure to identify damage at check-out does not waive the right to recover costs once discovered.
Carmel Cottage Inn reserves the right to inspect the cottage during the stay when reasonably necessary and after checkout to assess damage or loss. Failure to identify or charge for damage at the time of checkout does not waive Carmel Cottage Inn's right to recover such costs once discovered.

Guests acknowledge that damage assessments documented by management, including photographs, invoices,or professional estimates, shall be considered valid and binding. If the cost of damage exceeds the amount charged, the guest remains liable for the balance and agrees to remit payment upon demand.

Eviction for Damage or Non-Compliance:
Significant damage, repeated policy violations, or refusal to cooperate with remediation efforts may constitute a material breach of the reservation agreement and may result in immediate eviction without refund. Guests remain responsible for all associated costs.

Violation of Policies
Violation of any policy may result in immediate termination of the stay without refund and liability for damages.
