PROPERTY ACCESSIBILITY
Carmel Cottage Inn is an historic property consisting of five individual cottages built on a hillside.
The oldest cottage dates from 1910–1912, with the remaining cottages built in 1942. Because of the property’s age, layout, and terrain, accessibility features vary by cottage, and the property does not fully meet modern accessibility standards.
Guests with mobility, visual, hearing, or other accessibility needs are encouraged to review the information below carefully and to contact us with any questions before booking.
Tradewinds:
Entry door provides 32” of clear width. One step up from the curb at the street and one step up into the cottage
(a portable ramp is available upon request). Kitchen opening provides 32” of clear width.
Interior doorways, bedrooms, bathrooms, and pathways do not provide 32” of clearance.
Grab bar installed in tub/shower combination.
Original, narrow stairs lead to loft area and second bathroom.
Smoke and carbon monoxide detectors provide audible alerts and flashing lights.
Assistive devices available upon request: light-up door knock alert and light-up phone ring alert.
Log Haven:
Entry door provides 32” of clear width.
Step up from the curb at the street and four steps leading to the cottage.
Interior doorways, bedrooms, bathrooms, and pathways do not provide 32” of clearance.
Grab bar installed in tub/shower combination.
Original, narrow stairs lead to upstairs bedroom, second living room, and bathroom. Handrails are limited and portions of
the stairway do not have handrails.
